The Dive

The Dive Series

Generally speaking I work on large canvas, you know the 6, 8,10 ft and beyond sizes as can be seen on my Loft Artwork website. But every once in a while I get tempted to size down and focus on the details of working smaller.

This is exactly what I did with a recent series I completed. Interestingly enough as size was not a main factor my choice of colour was. Perhaps my artistic side really needs a boxed focus, I am not sure. That would be strange when you consider my works generally are abstract and without boundaries. In fact “Out of Bounds, the Artwork of Laura Warburton” is the title of my catalogue of art put together by my Beijing agent last year. But I digress, so back to the recent artwork series .

“The Dive”  is a (6) 6x6in, liquid acrylics/gel and pebble mediums on canvas series.

Brushed and washed in teal, cobalt, turquoise and ultramarine blues with hints of iridescent bronze and parchment white, the 6 works visually link together reflecting the movement and splashes of water as one dives into an ocean.

Comments on this series have included: “looks like the earth oceans from space”,  and “I can feel the coolness of the water in the turbulent visual spray”.

I love the water whether it be a pool, lake, river, ocean… you name it I love it !! In fact living on a large body of water, like the ocean, is top of my “Bucket List”.

Working with blue and thinking/feeling of water was done in several easy and comfortable sittings. So although my work has generally had the feel of size matters, “The Dive” series has helped develop my interest and intrigue of working smaller.

It can be said “Art is a process, of which the final product is just one part.!! This is whole heartily agree.

“The Dive” series is soon to be added and is currently available for purchase through the Loft Artwork website, under the newly created smaller works tab!!

Silence in the Studio

It has been several months since I painted. In fact I have packed away my studio like a bear hibernating in late fall.

Patiently waiting for my spring.

Experimental visual-musical series has begun…

Imagine Vivaldi’s  Four seasons, allegro , violin start-up is crisp, clean and swift.

This series is just that , however using a brush and body movements to capture the sound on canvas.

More to come over time ….  till then enjoy the music.
